From Patents Come Products

Obtaining a patent is not the inventor’s ultimate goal; the patent is there to protect an invention for a product, a method, or a chemical formula. The inventors below own patents or have patent pending statuses through patent applications filed by Greenfield Invention and Patent Consulting, Inc:

Litterbox Interface Junction Cover

Tom Casiana of Butte de Morts, WI developed a flexible hinging strip assembly that covers the interface junction of a Littermaid self cleaning litter box and prevents the accumulation of cat waste along and underneath this junction. The strip assembly greatly simplifies periodic pet owner litter management, is ecologically friendly, and reduces the wasteful disposal of costly plastic receptacles. Camouflage and Support Assembly for a Crossbow

Robert Hoffmann of Milwaukee invented and patented a camouflage and support assembly for a crossbow. The camouflage and support assembly are configured to provide a hunter with a comfortable stance while waiting for the game or deer to appear in his or her eyesight while undetectable, the flexibility of moving the crossbow to maintain the aim on a moving animal, and the ability to quickly release the arrow when the animal is in the line of fire. While waiting for the animal, the hunter may be sitting on a chair or kneel. For more information, see US Patent Number 7958878 and the following PDF:

Crash ’N Flash Lighting System

Bob Poels of Green Bay, WI invented and patented an actuated device that enables a cymbal player in a band to create a controlled flash-lighting effect by striking a predetermined spot on the strike side of the cymbal. For more information see US Patent Number 7759569 and the following PDF:

Refining of Edible Oil and Enhanced Biodiesel Process

Among the many inventions of Dr. Aicardo Roa-Espinosa, of Madison, WI and owner of SoilNet LLC (http://www.soilnetllc.com/index.html), are:

  • A process for separating impurities from edible oil made from fruits and vegetables. The addition of a small amount of a polymer to the crude oil precipitates a layer containing the impurities leaving a pure oil phase that can be physically separated from the impurities layer. The separation takes about 30 minutes or less.

    See patent (pdf)

  • A process for enhancing the speed of separation of glycerin, which is a byproduct of the reaction to produce biodiesel, by means of adding a small amount of a polymer to the reactants.

Emergency Rescue Device

John Escobar invented an Emergency Rescue Device for persons who might be incapacitated or trapped in areas from which normal rescue is difficult if these areas are inaccessible to rescue crews. The device is designed to rescue an injured firefighter trapped in a basement which is inaccessible because of fire or smoke, an injured policeman inaccessible to rescue personnel because of gun fire hampering the rescue operation, an incapacitated hiker trapped in a narrow ravine, or an ice fisherman might have fallen through the ice.
